Firefighters Make Quick Stop on Garage Fire

Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a residential structure fire at 102 Theresa Ct. in Slidell.  Firefighters arrived on the scene in under eight minutes to find a 2400 square foot two story home with light smoke coming from the residence.  They were able to bring the situation under control and extinguish the fire within 9 minutes of arriving on the scene.

The occupants were alerted when the smoke detectors starting going off and they noticed a light haze of smoke starting to fill the home.  Upon a quick investigation, they discovered the fire in the garage and evacuated the home, calling 911 from a cell phone.  The garage suffered moderate smoke damage, while two additional rooms had minor smoke damage.  The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical short in the garage.  No injuries were reported.
