Slidell, LA.-St. Tammany Fire District#1 responded to a commercial structure
fire at 859 Ashville Dr. in Slidell.  Firefighters arrived on the scene in
just over 4 minutes to find smoke showing from a 6000 square foot 4-plex
apartment building.  One of the townhouse apartments had smoke coming from
the front door and an upstairs window.  Firefighters were able to extinguish
the fire and bring the situation under control within 10 minutes of arriving
on the scene.

The occupant attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher before
safely evacuating the apartment.  Firefighters were able to rescue a dog and
two cats from the residence.  The 1500 square foot apartment received
moderate fire damage to the kitchen and moderate smoke damage throughout
the downstairs of the apartment.  The blaze was caused by a frying pan that
