PRESS RELEASE – Ridgecrest Dr. Fire Follow-up

PRESS RELEASE:
For immediate release: November 27, 2012

St. Tammany Fire District No. 1 Firefighters get a visit from the family of the dog that was saved at the Ridgecrest Dr. Fire.

SLIDELL, LA., November 27, 2012 – On Monday, November 26, 2012, the McKinnon family made a visit to the firefighters at Central Fire Station in Old Town to say thank you for saving their dog.  They even brought along the rescued dog, Dega, so the firefighters could see how well he had recovered.  The family also presented a basket filled with candy and treats to the firefighters to show their appreciation.

There are numerous occasions when firefighters pull pets out of burning buildings and attempt to resuscitate them.  Often firefighters will use oxygen and perform CPR in an attempt to save the pets.

It was on Saturday, November 17, 2012 that the firefighters/paramedics rescued Dega from the burning house located at 1567 Ridgecrest Dr. in Slidell.
