Slidell, LA.-STFPD#1 firefighters responded to 23 calls for service in a 24 hour period on Sunday. Four of these calls were fire related and were received within a two hour period between 2 and 4 pm. Firefighters were able to contain the fires even though their resources were spread thin. The scramble to cover the fire calls began at 2:35 pm when firefighters were dispatched to a large grass fire located in the area of 952 Pine St. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found that fire had engulfed a large wooded area bounded by Pine and Magnolia Streets. The fire had also destroyed one shed and damaged another which was located in the vicinity of the fire.
