Fire Prevention
The Fire Prevention Bureau of St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 was created in 1979 when the City of Slidell adopted N.F.P.A. 1 as the “City Fire Prevention Code”. Prior to that date Fire Prevention activities were carried out by dedicated Volunteers and paid career Fire Operators.
- With the support of every member of STFPD#1 we continue to provide our community with the highest quality Fire Prevention education services possible.
- Your Bureau is presently staffed with six Fire Prevention Officers and a Bureau Chief. Everyone in the Bureau is commissioned by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office to conduct new construction, and renovation project inspections.
- Your Fire Prevention Officers investigate every structure fire to determine the fire’s origin and cause. We work closely with law enforcement to prosecute criminals that choose to commit the crime of arson.
