Four Additional LUCAS Devices put into Service
Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 has acquired four additional LUCAS devices through a lease/purchase agreement. The LUCAS Chest Compression System is designed to deliver uninterrupted chest compressions at a consistent rate and depth. It facilitates consistent blood flow from the moment it is turned on, helping to improve a patient’s chance for survival. It can be applied in as little as 20 seconds and frees up more hands to perform other life-saving functions.
In December of 2014, the first LUCAS device was put in service at our Central fire station. Yesterday, the four additional LUCAS devices were strategically assigned to fire stations and put in service. Five of our eight fire stations now have a LUCAS device, making the units more accessible and helping us to better serve our citizens.
