Morning Fire Damages Home
Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a residential structure fire at 1937 Sixth St. in Slidell. Firefighters arrived on the scene in under three minutes to find a 1200 square foot single story home with heavy smoke coming from the front and rear of the structure. They were able to bring the situation under control and extinguish the fire within 31 minutes of arriving on the scene.
A neighbor noticed smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home and called 911. The owner was not home at the time of the fire. The master bedroom and attic sustained heavy fire damage, while the remainder of the home had moderate smoke damage. The fire is believed to have started in the master bedroom and may have been caused by a lit candle. No injuries were reported.
