Pets Killed in House Fire
Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a residential structure fire at 221 Napoleon Ave. in Slidell. Firefighters arrived on the scene in under five minutes to find a 2000 square foot two story home with heavy flames coming from the rear of the structure and extending through the roof. They were able to bring the situation under control and extinguish the fire within 30 minutes of arriving on the scene.
A neighbor saw the fire coming from the rear of the home and called 911. The owners were not home at the time of the fire. Approximately half of the home suffered heavy fire damage, while the remainder had heavy smoke damage. Three dogs and a cat perished in the fire. The fire is believed to have started in the laundry room and is under investigation. The Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the family. No injuries were reported.
