St. Tammany Fire District #1 & the Slidell Fire Fighters Association to Host an “All Hazards 1001” Citizens Academy
What is it?
All Hazards 1001 is an introduction to St. Tammany Fire District #1’s operations, procedures, divisions and overall mission of our department. It is a FREE five sessions informational training beginning with an introduction to the Fire Service and culminating with a day of scenarios that will give the participant a snapshot of what a firefighter actually sees, feels, smells and all the jobs that are a part of the life of a firefighter. It is geared towards providing citizens and politicians with the knowledge of all aspects of the Fire Department.
When is it?
Beginning August 27, 2014 at 6:00PM and will run four consecutive Wednesday evenings. The program will culminate with a set of scenarios on Saturday, September 20, 2014, beginning at 8AM.
Where will it be held?
All sessions will be held at St. Tammany Fire District #1 Training Academy on South Range Rd., in the Camp Villere Complex.
Why should I attend?
To better inform the citizens and political leaders of the inner workings of the Fire Department and the tasks involved in mitigating emergencies.
Who may attend?
The “All Hazards 1001” Citizens Academy is open to the first 20 people that call and reserve a spot in the program. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. The deadline for reserving a spot will be Monday, August 18, 2014 at 4pm. Anyone interested in attending should call St. Tammany Fire District #1’s main office at (985) 649-3665.
