Abandoned House Destroyed by Fire, One Person Injured
Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a structure fire across from 4291 Gum Dr., at the corner of Oak Dr. and Gum Dr. in Slidell. Firefighters arrived on the scene in less than 7 minutes to find a 1300 square foot home fully involved with fire. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 18 minutes of arriving on the scene.
The fire was reported by a passerby who called 911. The abandoned home was totally destroyed by the fire. A 53 year old homeless man, who had been staying in the house, was injured by the fire. He was transported to Ochsner Hospital in Slidell. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
