Firefighters Extinguish Car Wash Building Fire behind Gas Station

Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a commercial
structure fire at the Texaco Station located at 601 Robert Blvd. in Slidell.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in less than 3 minutes to find intense flames
and smoke coming from an 800 square foot car wash building located behind the gas
station.  Engine 13 was the first truck on the scene and immediately made an aggressive
fire attack.  Captain Tyrone Collins and Firefighter Alvin Davis pulled a 200’
pre-connect cross lay hose and began to extinguish the fire while Fire Operator
Chad Ellinwood supplied them with water.  Firefighters were able to extinguish the
fire and bring the situation under control within 12 minutes of arriving on the scene.

A passerby discovered the fire and called 911.  The car wash suffered heavy fire damage.
However, firefighters were able prevent the fire from spreading to the main gas station
building.  The fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
