Slidell Cub Scout Pack 437 Walks Neighborhood Collecting Food for the Oklahoma
Tornado Victims
Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 received some additional help in
collecting non-perishable food items for the victims of the Oklahoma tornado.
On Monday, June 3, 2013, local Cub Scout Pack 437 spent an hour walking the
Whisperwood Subdivision knocking on doors asking for donations. According to
Den Leader Veronica Pelayo, the kids went door to door and read from a script.
The kids wanted to do their part to help give back to those who suffered losses
from the Oklahoma tornado. The overwhelming amount of support they received
was evident by the amount of food collected when they showed up at Fire Station 17
on Brownswitch Rd. later that evening.
St. Tammany Fire District #1 would like to thank everyone who graciously donated
to this worthy cause. The last day to drop off donations is tomorrow Friday,
June 7, 2013. On Saturday, June 8, 2013 we will be shipping all of the donated
food to Journey Church in Norman, Oklahoma.
