Firefighters Respond to a Late Night House Fire
Slidell, LA. – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to a residential structure
fire at 59217 Carroll Rd. in Slidell. Firefighters arrived on the scene in a
little over 3 minutes to find smoke and flames showing from a 1500 square foot
single story residence. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within
20 minutes of arriving on the scene.
The owners were gone at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to rescue
a dog and a cat from the residence. However, two other dogs and a cat perished
as a result of injuries sustained from the intense heat and smoke.
The fire appears to have started in the kitchen. There was heavy fire damage
to the kitchen and moderate smoke damage to the rest of the home. The fire was
discovered by a passerby who saw smoke coming from the residence. No injuries
were reported.
