Battalion Chief Recongized for Service

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians today recognized Battalion Chief/Paramedic James Rhyce of St. Tammany Fire District No. 1 for 20 years of continious service as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Larry Hess, Fire Chief of the department that serves the Slidell area stated that this milestone only demonstrates the overall commitment and excellence that Battalion Chief Rhyce brings to the job every day he serves the public.  Hess continued that Chief Rhyce is a leader in every way and that his example serves as a template for our less experienced members to emulate.

Battalion Chief Rhyce has been a member of the fire department since February of 1985.  Last year he was recognized as Medic of the Year and for the fact that he has not had a sick day in his entire career.

Chief Hess stated that it is important to realize that there are men, women, and childern in our community that are alive today because Jimmy Rhyce was there to give them a second chance.  We are fortunate to have people of his caliber on our fire department.
